The joy of our family pets as seen through the camera lens and wildflower tablescaping.
The bluebonnets are blooming and this year we are taking pet photos in the Texas state wildflowers.
To celebrate this spring,
the table is set with the bluebonnet theme in the breakfast room of our city home.
Our place setting is of course colored in blue and white.
A bright blue salad is placed with a card of bluebonnets on top for a name to be written for each guest.
A close-up of the bluebonnet on the panel shows the darker blue of the bonnet shape.
Stripe place mats, blue tea towels and blue handled flatware add to the blue and white hues of the place setting.
Just days before creating this scape, it was our fortune that we walked in a thrift store to find this lovely hand painted glass set with bluebonnets and the yellow butterflies which are always darting in the fields.
The set contains the pitcher plus six glasses which will be used to serve lemonade or sweet tea. This $19 surprise was a signed set by Debbie, who is an accomplished painter of Texas wildflowers.
The Texas boot centers the table filled with a bouquet of bluebonnets and Texas flags.
The boot will travel to my son's home for a surprise!

A sugar bowl and creamer of hand painted bluebonnets creates a homey feel with the centerpiece.
Boot stomping dancing on the bluebonnet cards is part of the theme and a state law "forbids" the picking of wild bluebonnets!
The youngest member of the family, Ranger, is having his first portrait made in the bluebonnets. This is one of my favorite photos of my son.
As you can see there were tiring times for dog and son,
and impatient times! Please note the expression our son's face in all the photos!
This is a true family portrait in the front of our house by the lake.
Mr. Swagger aka Ranger is not quite ready to leave even after a long day on a photo shoot.

I am surprising my wonderful wife with a 20+ year photo of our son Christopher in a field of Texas Bluebonnets. Note his blond hair has turned brown but eyes are as blue as the flowers in the field.

I've heard the meadows of bluebonnets in Texas are a sight to behold. Nice idea to photograph the dogs with the blooms and your hand painted jug is pretty.

ReplyDeleteRecent research says there is no state law forbidding picking bluebonnets. The illegal activity is in trespassing on private property. Bluebonnets in ditches are fair game. :)

ReplyDeleteThe bluebonnets are such a beautiful shade of blue and the see fields of them must be inspiring. Your table setting is lovely, and since blue is my favorite color I might be biased, but the color combos are perfect for a bluebonnet theme , especially combined with the Texas flag.

ReplyDeleteI have heard tell that you have not lived until you have experienced the up close and personal glory of the Texas bluebonnet fields. I think you brought it pretty doggone close, though! What a pretty tablescape! I have a pair of those boots, but being a Missourian I had no idea they were a "Texas boot." Now that I see it in your centerpiece with the flag, I can plainly see the resemblance!!! If it will bring me absolution, I will tell you that I used them in a tablescape to celebrate our annual American Royal which has a pretty "Texas feel" to it.

The whole table is lovely....but...the thing I loved seeing the most were the photos of the dogs in the blue bonnets. Oh...you have some pretty dogs there. Pretty much all I care about in this world are dogs and decorating and the two often times don't mix well.

ReplyDeletePam, this is beautiful...I love the bluebonnets...a little story..my Daddy is 87 years old and he told me several years when his health began to fail that there was one thing he regretted never doing in his life...seeing the bluebonnets bloom...I wrote that down in my Bible as a goal for me to fulfill..I have several pieces of little china with bluebonnets on them to remind me of this wish...thank you for showing me the bluebonnets and reminding me of my Daddy's one unfulfilled wish....and I love your dogs and your son's pictures..

ReplyDeleteLovely post. Bluebonnets are so pretty as are the sweet puppies. My DIL went to college in Texas and has a neat picture of her in a bluebonnet field. I wish I could see them blooming. My son and his family will be moving back to Texas so maybe I will get to see them before too long.
