Waxahachie Valentine Windows

Valentine's Day sprang to life in the windows of the antique mall in Waxahachie. A picture of the festive day is exactly why my sweetheart gave me a camera for Christmas.

This window looks like a Valentine party any girl would love to attend.


The front view of the window shows the wonderful red and white colors. The side view above captures the frilly white party dress.

The scene in this window reminds me of a dining room with the Mickey and Minnie Mouse cookie jars. Do you think they hold red valentine heart shape cookies? There might even be something special from your sweetheart in them!


As you walk in the door of the mall, you are again transported back to a Valentines's Day party. The beautiful vintage red gown catches your eye and captures you imagination of twirls on a dance floor of a girl and her special beau.

Carol's Birthday

Carol Ingram is standing in front of her pretty blue car. Sweetheart and I took her to lunch for her birthday. We went to On the Border for it has great Mexican food, her favorite. I asked her to pose for her birthday picture with the Texas print. She is a born Texan and has her home decorated with lovely Texas decor.

Salvation Army Shop - Dallas

One of the great buys at the Salvation Army, I found these on Saturday while we were out just looking around. The great thing about this set of Nikko was the color of the price sticker made it half price. I brought it home, washed, and put in the cabinets to use instead of the fruit set. I packed them away to use or sell later for I was very tired of them.

Greenville, Texas

The weather was great the day we went to Greenville. A January day in the seventies. Inside a gift store, the fifty percent sign on Christmas items was tempting. The most interesting was their snowman tree. The tree was a result of losing the top of the tree. They came up with the snowman head and the rest was a collaboration of the store owners.

While shopping in one of the antique malls, I spotted this large mason jar in a locked glass case. It is the same size as one I already have but this is in the Mandarin pattern.

A surprising story came about while buying these four chintz trios at another antique place in Greenville. Another customer, a man came up to me as the employees were wrapping the china and said, "Oh, you bought the china!". I said, "Yes.". Then he responded he had planned on buying it. I thought he was joking as some people do, but he kept talking. I asked tentatively are you joking or are you serious. He explained, they had a mission at church where they would set the tables with tea sets and use ladies hats as center pieces. He loved tea and he would buy tea sets. He said, he had tea with his own children and grandchildren. I thought he was from Greenville but, I told sweetheart the man had on a shirt with Elliot's hardware. I assumed there was one in Greenville as was the case in the metroplex. When we got home and I looked up Elliot's on the internet, I realized he really was upset and had come back into the store to buy some other items and the china. I guess I was lucky, but sweetheart said why didn't he buy it.

North Dallas Antiques Mall

The North Dallas Antique mall is located in a building which originally was a theater. One of the days we went to Dallas to shop, we stopped by and I found this lovely teapot on half price. The teapot appears to be hand painted and also the gold filigree.

Benbrook

Mother and I went to Benbrook, when Sweetheart took us to the antique mall. We found these while shopping. The blue water goblet is a pattern from Fenton with grapes and leaves. The rim of the goblets are frosted. This is a pattern I thought I had seen in a antique mall in Dallas. It turns out I was right and they were $28 each there. I was fortunate enough to get these on sale at the antique mall in Benbrook. We certainly were enjoying his holiday.

Downtown McKinney, Texas

Downtown McKinney has a Victorian Christmas every year before Christmas on the weekend. The cutout of a Victorian gentlemen is one of the many decorations. We attended the festivities on a Sunday afternoon before Christmas. These photos were taken with my new pink camera which my sweetheart surprised me with for Christmas. It has been so much fun trying it out as we made a trip to shop downtown after the 25 th.

This is one of the restaurants in McKinney and is so ready for the holidays with the decorations.

Antiqueland Tea Room - Plano

My sweetheart took me to Antiqueland in Plano.

Here we are having a wonderful lunch in the tearoom. I had their chicken salad with little finger sandwiches.

The tearoom was decorated for the holidays and this made it very festive. They have a piano which they play on special occasions.


The tea rooms dessert case is always tempting. The chocolate torte is one I have enjoyed before.

This is one of the welsh cabinets with a display of Christmas china from Fitz & Floyd. The name of the pattern is Holiday Pine. I was very surprised to see it because it is one of my Christmas patterns. A wonderful thing happened after Christmas when my sweetheart took me to the F&F after Christmas sale. I bought the green pine charger plates to go with the Holiday Pine pattern.
