The Red and White Pagoda

The love of china collecting is fulfilled by creating a tablescape with a special set of red and white! Ralph Lauren is known for designing lovely patterns and this is named Red Pagoda.

The basis of this centerpiece is the clear glass 12" antique cake stand.

Our recent antiquing trip to Hot Springs, Ark.  yielded this wonderful red glass vase. It brought to mind using it with this set of china.

Fresh white daisies with green centers are airy and summery and create thoughts of an outdoor garden! The daisies are raised above the sight line for unobstructed conversation across the table.
Representing the Pagoda shape are these mossy green bird cages bringing in the garden setting.
A darling lacy red bird captures the hues of the table.
This red bird peeks up and tweets at you!
Red and white bamboo rimmed dinner plates sets the beginning of the place setting.
A close-up of the waffle texture of the rim shows the simple detail of Ralph Lauren's design.
Adding the bamboo as the accent plate creates the pagoda design.
Each place setting has a red angular corner place mat which repeats the pagoda shape!

Red rolled napkin is secured with a silver napkin ring placed by the bread and butter plate.
The shapely curves of the elegant flatware provides a contrast to the angles of the pagoda design.

A repeat of the bamboo pattern is shown in the saucer.
The moon and stars pattern in the water goblet is contrasted against the delicate red cut crystal goblet which will serve a light sparkling lemonade!
The ends of the table are balanced by the candle holders and red candles plus the red glass lidded urn.
The two red glass urns were found just outside of Texarkana on the Arkansas side. They were in a Fenton glass shop and the sticker is left to preserve it's authenticity. Fenton is not being produced anymore in the USA, so these pieces are very pricey now.
More lovely curves show in the Mosser red glass candle holder, and I will light the candles for a romantic dinner.
Shadows are cast on the head of the table for a pleasing feel!

The youngest member of our family is Ranger, at 8 months, is a growing and playful rough collie. I bought him a plastic bottle stuffed rooster toy and he destroyed the squeaker and tore it up in a matter of hours.

The Tablescape will be linked to the parties at Rose Chintz Cottage, Artful Affirmations and Martha's Favorites,
Cuisine Kathleen, and Between Naps on the Porch! The buttons of each party is shown of the side bar! I hope you will enjoy viewing each party as much as I do!

Cuisine Kathleen had a challenge this week of a white table with a chosen color. My thoughts went to creating a red and white table with a garden atmosphere!

I don't do a lot of this shade of red - more burgundy tones for me - but I do love how you put all this together. I have a number of darker red pieces coming to me from my mother's collection and now I have some inspiration for a new tablescape of my own - with a splash of blue . . . I think . . .
Joy!

Red is my color of the year this year so I've been keeping my eye out for dishes and glassware in that color. I am crazy about yours. That china would look so pretty displayed in my kitchen. It manages to have a pattern without being overly busy. I love it and your stemware. Beautiful pieces!

(And I collect antique pedestal plates so I'm very drawn to your centerpiece, too.)

Hello Texas! And hi Ranger too! Beautiful tablescape and the daisy's are stunning. The bigger plates are very vintage inspired, but the accent plates have a modern twist to them. Gotta love RL. Always classic. Hugs, Holly @ coconutheadsurvivalguide
